Speaking about FTZ and Free Port in Batam Island, we’ve to talk about Ismeth Abdullah. He is the governor of Kepri Island. But, he is not just a governor, he is the super governor in Indonesia ! ‘Cos, Ismeth not just a governor of Riau Island Province. He is also the number one of FTZ Board of Batam Island – Bintan and Karimun Island too.
The structure of FTZ and Free Port of Batam is governor as the Chief of Board. And the board responsible on FTZ and Free Port progress in Batam Island. The Board also responsible to the new business and investment institution will “born”. No BIDA – Batam Insutrial Development Authority – more. BIDA will change the name and function as Developing Zone Board or Badan Pengusahaan Kawasan (BPK).
Right now, the job description of investing in Batam Island is domain of BIDA. BIDA has done to develop Batam Island in 36 years. Until we know Batam Island has more 30 industrial park and more 900 foreign investment. BIDA has develop the water treatment and electricity power and inviting the foreign investment. But, now BIDA will over and reborn as the BPK.
Last of that all, the person who responsible is Ismeth Abdullah. So that why, I said Ismeth is the super governor in Indonesia. Because, he is the powerful man in Batam and Riau Island Province today. (!)
